3.25.06 - More of the album artwork is up now, some dating all the way back to 1997. I also put up my interview with Chuck Palahniuk, author of Fight Club, as well as some of my other writing from Section M's final issue.
3.20.06 - Okay, so I now have a few albums and posters up. Since Love Equals Death's Nightmerica comes out tomorrow morning, I can now officially unveil the artwork for it. Pretty keen, huh? I'm especially proud of the burning dog image. More soon.
3.19.06 - The first order of news is obviously that I have put up a portfolio site at all. I guess ever since getting the design job of putting together Love Equals Death’s album art for Nightmerica for Fat Wreck Chords, things have been accelerating for me what with all the design work that’s started to come my way. So I best get my shit together.
For those of you who are coming here not knowing who the hell I am, either randomly or because of a credit on something I’ve done here’s a brief bio:
Once upon a time, from 1998 to 2003, I owned and ran a free newspaper/magazine called Section M, which was devoted to the underground music of the San Francisco Bay Area. That eventually crashed and burned, as truly edgy publications tend to do, especially those that are organized around one person’s output. That person was me, so in a combination of exhaustion and financial ruin, I burned out big time and dropped out of the public eye. Now, three years later and debt free, I’ve again started making arty things, currently mostly band-related artwork (CDs, t-shirts, posters, websites). You can still buy the back issues at Section M's website, and learn more about that chapter of my, and many other people's lives.
I also am partnered up with my friend Ryan to do Designed By Monkeys, a t-shirt company devoted to some of my original designs as well as printing and selling shirts and other merch for bands. Right now the site is down while we reprogram the shopping cart, but rest assured, it’s gonna be rockin’.
My plan for this site is to make it a nearly unfiltered catch-all for pretty much everything I’ve ever done creatively. But I gotta start small for now, or I’d be programming this site full time. I’ll just throw a few things on here every once in a while and tell you here in the “News” section what is new and where to go find it. Assuming anyone cares...
